You take a deep breath and walk into your place of labor. It's just another normal day of work you repeat to yourself in your mind just another day of studying portal magic and runes.Well as a junior research officer assistant are you mad that after all your life after high school and college preparing yourself for portal research you don't even have the dignity to be a junior research officer but are a step below that. An assistant who's superior probably knows less about portals and hasn't dedicated their life to it? No of course you aren't you tell yourself i'm sure i´ll get promoted soon right?As you walk in the cool air brushes across your face as you enter a normal looking lobby area, well it would be normal if it wasn't for windows looking out into space onto a planet surrounded by green gases. You have seen this sight twice before and you still think they are quite dangerous and frivolous. This is a place to study the new magic of portals after all and not some downtown city office.
As you walk in you are greeted by the desk clerk jason he's a jolly fellow who always greets those who come in with a smile well at least he says that he's smiling no one can tell since he insists on wearing his custom space suit and helmet at all times to ¨show it off.¨ he waves to you and says ¨nice to see you decided to come back for three days in a row if i were you i would of left by the third.¨ you wave to him as he clocks you in and you continue on your way before you get into the main hallway he tells you encouragely that it will only a matter of time before management recognizes your talent and to not get down because of your position you nod at him gratefully and continue down your way.
After much walking (and once forgetting where your were) you make it at your lab station here you see some of your group of co workers taking notes next to a gold-greenish portal there is a computer connected to a box shaped machine that has a tube going into a portal you wave as you enter in and one of your co workers looks up and disengages from the group and heads over to you. The woman who calls over to you is Dr.Jennie she has a yellow lab coat to signify she is a senior scientist she calls out to you ¨hey! I think you're gonna want to see this¨ and points you over to the main group. Joining the main group you see everyone's in a frenzy taking notes and looking at the data feed on the computer ¨We think we have a candidate for someone to go through it . But for now the other portals have been shut off but we used some magic to keep the signal locked. Speaking of which, the new signals we have been getting from these portals are interesting. You should take out your signal scope and come see it- you tune her out after this as you process this.
The first portal location in ages that is just right for someone to go through you think to yourself that you have to be one of the ones to get through it. As soon as you start to ask about how to apply to go in the portal all the power in the room shuts off then turns back on a second later. But this time a loud siren plays and the lights turn red you realise what is going on just as a voice over the intercom states that the facility is going into lockdown and to stay put.
What happens next is a blur of panic people running to the door and you running with them.but when you get out into a hallway and hear the screams of people dying and see blood splatter from a room down the corridor you all decide maybe you're better off locked in the room. You all crowd back into the room and Dr. Jenner draws a rune on the door and magically fortifies it hopefully protecting you all from…. Whatever is out there. And she turns toward you all and slowly says this ¨listen up people that thing is coming this way and if they couldn't fend it off than we are just as vulnerable there's only one way out: the portals.¨ One man doesn't seem to take this well you haven't seen him often but judging from his dark blue lab coat he seems to be a major scientist
assistant he exclaims ¨Are you crazy we don't know what's on the other side of those sure it seems fine now but it just be a void after that we don't have enough information!¨ The poor man seems hysterical. A young woman than speaks up you recognize her as one of your friends emma she is wearing a light blue lab coat which means she is a major scientist assistant ¨shut it Henson does we look like we have much of a choice or do you wanna end up like the poor lads down the hall?¨The man you now know to be henderson opens his mouth to speak but than he is interrupted by another man who looks to be in his mid 30s he wears a aquamarine lab coat so he seems to be the mechanic specialist.He looks to the group and with a grim look ¨guys we have a problem¨ he says ¨i think the power shutting off has messed up the portal it's shorted out we can't use this one. I think we are going to have to use the auxiliary ones.¨ You ask him what the auxiliary portal is. “Well when i say auxiliary i'm referring to the other portals there's two the other one we've tested the runes on it and it's so far been pretty stable it only sends something to another entirely different location sometimes but when it does it's not pretty the other one though is odd”. “The signal is different from what we've seen before but we detect life forms on the other side but the runes are a little unstable so you’ll end all end up somewhere different but in the same solar system”
“Alright team let's get these old portals working” Dr jennie announces and you get to work. Under the command of the mechanical specialist and Dr jennie it's not too long before both portals are up one is a deep dark blue tinged with gray and the other is colored a whitish yellow. Dr. Jenner explains that the goal while you are out there should be not to draw attention and to just try to stay alive until this is all over then the rescue team should be able to lock on to your signals and get you out of there.”alright team now let's take a vote on which portal we should take the one that's a little unstable could be dangerous if we get teleported to some random outer planet with no oxygen but we could get lucky but than i suppose that's true for the other one as well” Dr jennie explains. Something sharp scraping down the door then you hear that awful crying angry roar then loud bangs as whatever it tries to get in the room the door is buckling under its weight. A feeling of fear washes over the room as you all know whatever that thing is will get in soon than what's to stop it getting THEM. The panic in the room swells then bursts as people start running to one of the two portals as the door starts crumbling at the overwhelming force of whatever is try to get in. You have a choice: you go to the whitish green portal where the grey tinged dark blue portal.
