You being the person of science that you think you are confidently going down the middle. Because you think the middle is always right for some reason. As you walk down the center hallway you take stock of what you have from your lab which admittedly isn't much. All you have is your lab coat and your arm mounted signalseeker which might come in handy now that you think about it. You hold up your arm in front of you as you walk and flick on the signalseeker you move your arm around trying to find a signal until you find one!... well two actually you listen closer to the first one the closer one….
It seems that the first one is closer and the frequency is… eerily close to that of the proto type portals and the second one is something else entirely. You're not sure what it is as you are walking down the hallway you suddenly get a bad premonition and then you hear it. The same strange creepy mix between crying and roaring it seems it followed you. It sounds like it's back the way you came near the house and whatever it is it sounds mad. It seems whatever it is really doesn't like you and your portal magic colleges probably because your group is what led to it being yanked out of wherever it came from. But the more you think about it the more troubled you are if you are right and it's hunting your division does that mean it's sentient? If that's true that means you are in a lot more trouble than you thought. Well say what you will about how unhealthy fearing for your life is but nothing makes someone more of a great runner than fear.
You sprint down the hallway running toward the signal until you are finally there to open a door only to find… Well isn't that just poetic it's another portal! Your mind is racing as you look around the room. There's barely anything in it, certainly nothing that can stop a horrible creature from promptly ripping out your insides.
There's only a chair next to the circle that encapsulates the portal and a magic circle on the ground and then you look at the portal itself it seems…. Off It's the only word to describe it's just off somehow? You take your options in and decide to look at the other signal. You hold your arm out and move it around and you see that the other signal isn't that far off. Maybe you can check it out. But then you hear that angry crying roar in the cellar. It's not too far from you and you dont have much time.
Now you have two options: take the portal or check out the other signal the portal seems off but you didn't study portal magic and procedures for so long to get killed by the very thing you study so much. The other signal might not be a safe choice, but at least there isn't the risk of getting teleported into space. Well what are you waiting for? Will you take the risk of a dead end or will you go down further into the portal rabbit hole. You should probably make your choice soon. Because the clock is ticking.
