You follow the music, still looking at the food. You almost run into a wall but catch yourself. When you turn back around the food is gone, and it is replaced with rotting meat and spoiled fruits. You're lucky that you didn’t eat it. As you continue through the hallways, following the music that sounds louder by the second, you stumble upon a wide, empty open room. This room looks more like a ballroom, not a room underground. Still the music isn't coming from here, you continue further, past the ballroom. Another room is right beside it, a smaller yet long room, most likely a kitchen of some sorts. The music isn't coming from here either. You continue, almost tripping on a broom or something. After walking through room after room of nothing, the music slowly getting louder, you finally come to the source of the music. A piano, a trumpet and a violin, floating in the air in front of you. You stare at the floating instruments for a few seconds, then they start to change.
Everything starts to change. The walls become brighter than before and brand new. The instruments are playing? People appear all around you out of nowhere! Some are floating around giving sweets, some playing instruments like in a band. The room is now full of people. You quickly rush out, trying to make sense of what is happening, as you pass through the rooms you walked through a minute ago, they change. People appear out of nowhere, the kitchen is now alive and cooking foods for this party of the dead. The ballroom has people now flying, dancing, singing, talking, running, everything! You keep running, back to the first room you came from, the table of food. The food is back like before, but at the head of the table is seated, a king. Around him are people of importance you guess. One of the guards somehow sees you, and yells at you to freeze. You obviously don't and run towards the fork in the hallways. You remember about the warning from the sign, something about never going back, it didn't matter right now. The guard was catching up on you, you run like you never have before, thinking of the weird encounters that have happened so far, thinking of your family, friends, your co-workers, that might just be alive. You see a small light in the distance, sunlight. You keep running and don't look behind you. You see the light coming closer and closer until you almost trip on the stairs leading up into it. You realize that you just escaped the cellar. You hear the roar of the guard that was chasing you and quickly close the doors, locking them with the key that was still on the ground, the one you found in the backyard.
It was noon, or atleast close to it. The sun was at its peak, yet it wasn't hot. You look around to see the abandoned house, the same as when you got there, probably about a couple hours ago. You rush to the backyard to see if you can find anything else, anything that could help you get back home, to the lab, to your home, anywhere but here. Just as you were wishing, to go home, to see anyone, anyone that you knew, you saw something. It was a portal. It wasn't there a second ago, you thought, but you don't care where it was, it was better than here. You quickly run through the porr-
