The Creature

You decide not to follow the creature and to go left. After all, Seeing what happened at the lab I don't think you will ever trust a random creature again. Oh no, The Lab. Memories start to flood your mind. It felt like so long ago but you know it could only have been a couple of hours...Right? This thought was interrupted by a sound, a familiar sound. Almost sounds like footsteps. You scan the area to try to find the source of the noise, “That creature won't just leave me alone!” you think out loud. The suspect who had made the noise comes out from the shadow wearing an all too familiar yellow lab coat. “DR JENNIE, YOUR ALIVE!” you exclaim happy to see someone again. “Yes it's me, settle down.” Dr, Jennie demands. As if mind controlled you stand up straighter and put your arms to your sides. “Sorry, force of habit. How did you get here?” you ask. “Not important right now, There is something more important at play. There's a portal at the end of this tunnel. ” She says almost enthusiastically. “What does that mean? Will this take us to home doctor?” you say cautiously. “I think it might, but it's unstable. It’s at the red stage right now, something...unfortunate might happen again if it goes bad.” she says as if all of the enthusiasm has left her when she said that. An awkward silence falls over the tunnel, you build up the courage to break the silence. “Doctor, if this goes wrong, what will we do?”. “Pray, but the signals from this portals exit look like they lead about a mile away from the lab. This is too big of a chance not to take.” she says. You think through it but decide this is for the best. You both don't even have to speak a word to know what to do next, the nod is all you both needed. You both jump in the portal at the same time. You open your eyes and are greeted by the grass on your hands, and the air blowing into your face, you roll around in the grass and breathe as much as you can. “It worked? Doctor it WORKED!” you exclaim. You get up to see the Doctor already standing looking into the distance, Staring at a smoke cloud.”yes we did, You're promoted. I want you in the lab tomorrow by 10 am.” she says so monotone that it's obvious she's trying to make her voice monotone. ”Actually, doctor. I quit.” you say while turning to walk away. You finally feel the release of being free, out of the cave, out of the lab, out of the tunnel, and out of the clutches of death.
